Organise meter with Basis and Energy Retailer
The Basis Meter is ordered from the retailer via a new connection or meter change request. Our metering team will guide you through this. No separate meter box, no future retrofits needed.

Basis is nominated as the Meter Equipment Provider
The energy retailer nominates Basis as the Meter Equipment Provider, creating a single work order aligned with the Basis Board install at a time that suits you.

Inspection and meter installation
An approved livening agent installs the Basis Smart Meter directly into the Basis Board, configures and livens the installation. No additional wiring, main switch or enclosures needed.

Energy data flows securely from day one
Secure data delivery enables the billing, load control and remote read features for the retailer.

No existing meter. Talk to us early, send us the lot numbers before the ICP application goes in. Refer to the Electricity Retailers list for available retailers for new connections.

Existing home
Changing an existing meter, or changing retailer with a Basis meter already fitted. Give us a call and send the ICP before a change is requested. Refer to the Electricity Retailers list for available retailers for new Basis meters and retailer switching.

Once the meter is in and the property is livened, your customer can move to any retailer that supports Basis metering.

Please ensure to send the ICP to Basis before requesting a connection or switch with the retailer. Sending the ICP to Basis before a meter change request helps us deliver the smoothest experience for you and your customer.

Livening a Basis meter needs an agent approved on that network. Filter by region or network to find one. We are actively training and onboarding agents, so if there is nobody near you yet, or you do not see an agent you already use, no problem. Call us and we will sort you out.
