Firmware update improvements
Firmware updates have just got better. With Bluetooth connectivity and real-time feedback, the app can now detect button presses during installation and guide you through each step more effectively.
Before updating
The update has two steps: downloading and installing.
You can download the update from anywhere - you don't need to be at home. Once the download is complete, we'll notify you so you can move on to installation when you're ready.
To install, you'll need to be at home and near your panel to physically press a button on it. We recommend only starting the installation when you're there and ready to complete it.
Downloading a firmware update
When there is a firmware update available, you'll be notified and prompted in the app. To start the download press 'Download'. This takes a few minutes and it can take longer depending on your internet connectivity. We'll notify you once the download is completed.
Installing a firmware update
To install the firmware, the panel needs to be rebooted. We'll guide you through the steps, and you will trigger the update by pressing a small button on the panel.
Here are a few key things to note before you install:
- Circuits on standby will turn on
- You need to be at home and close to your panel
- Ensure you are connected to the internet
- Check that Bluetooth is turned on in your phone's settings
- Your home and appliances will lose power during the update, as the panel will reboot
- Routines will reset, and the circuits in a routine will turn on
Tip: The Bluetooth icon in the top left indicates the Bluetooth status. If connected, it appears blue. If disconnected, it appears greyed out.
First button press
Press the button once. At this step, the panel and circuits will turn off, causing your house to lose power for a few seconds.
As soon as you press the button you'll note a loading state appear on the bottom of the screen indicating the app is recognising the button press. You'll see the step progress to a check confirming that the button was pressed.
Second button press
Press the button once more. The panel and circuits will turn back on, and your house and appliances should power up.
Completing the update
The panel is confirming the update and getting back online. No action is required from you, simply wait and stay close to the panel while the update is completed.
Your Wi-Fi router will take some time to start up now that power has been restored. It may take a few minutes for your internet connection to be restored and the panel to reconnect to the app.
Tip: Keep an eye on your phone’s Wi-Fi icon in the status bar to see when it might be ready.
